AirDrop alternative

An AirDrop alternative for Windows

AirDrop is excellent inside Apple's ecosystem. Sendaway covers the awkward part: moving something when one of the devices is Windows.

The short answer: AirDrop does not natively send files to Windows. Sendaway provides a browser-based alternative: choose the file on the Apple or Windows device, generate a temporary 6-digit code, and retrieve it in the other device's browser.

Three steps

1

Open Sendaway

Use a browser on the Apple or Windows device that currently holds the files.

2

Create the handoff

Select the files and generate a temporary 6-digit transfer code.

3

Retrieve on Windows or Apple

Open Sendaway on the other device and enter the code.

Why Sendaway

Built for mixed devices

Sendaway is browser-based, so the handoff is not limited to Apple hardware.

No contact discovery

You do not need to expose a device to everyone nearby or find the correct name in a discovery menu.

Cloud or device to device

Use temporary encrypted cloud pickup across locations, or Local Transfer for a live handoff without cloud file storage.

Troubleshooting

The Apple device cannot select the file

Save it to Photos or Files first, then choose it from Sendaway's file picker.

Windows blocks the download

Use the browser's download panel to allow or resume the file.

Local Transfer cannot establish a direct path

Keep both devices online. Sendaway can use an encrypted relay without storing the transferred file.

Limits and availability: Free cloud sends support up to 500 MB. Paid cloud options support 10 GB or 50 GB. Local Transfer limits depend on the plan and connection route.
